Windproof sunshades - Our top selection

A flying parasol can not only be unpleasant for outdoor guests, but also pose a danger to people in the outdoor areas of your restaurant or garden. In addition, a parasol damaged by the wind can lead to financial losses. Many manufacturers advise against using their parasols in strong winds to avoid damage and complaints. However, we will show you how you can use your parasols safely even in strong winds.

Parasols and wind - what should I bear in mind?

Before using a parasol in strong winds, you should consider the following points:

  1. Choice of location: Position the parasol as sheltered from the wind as possible.
  2. Alignment of the sunshade canopy: Avoid tilting the canopy directly into the wind or against the wind direction to minimize the risk of tipping and pressure.
  3. Adjust the height: Lower the canopy as far as possible to reduce the area exposed to the wind.
  4. Secure attachment: Ensure that the parasol is firmly anchored in the stand and cannot rotate.

How do I secure a parasol in windy conditions?

To improve the stability of your parasol in windy conditions, you can:

  • Increase the weight: Add weights to the stand. This can be done with bricks, concrete blocks or aesthetically pleasing solutions such as planted containers.
  • Correct choice of stand: Choose a suitable parasol stand. There are models that are supplied without stands and those that are designed for use with concrete blocks.
  • Use protective covers: A protective cover can provide additional support and protect the parasol from the weather.
  • Close parasols in strong winds: If strong winds or storms are forecast, it is advisable to close the parasol as a precaution and stow it away safely.
  • Position the parasol correctly: Position the parasol so that it catches the wind as little as possible. Tilting the parasol against the wind direction can be helpful.
  • Create anchor points: For permanent installations, anchor points can be created in the ground to which the parasol can also be attached.

Finding the perfect parasol stand

There are basically two main categories to consider when choosing the ideal parasol stand

  1. Sunshades without stand: Some models, such as the Siroc and the Cielo sunshade from our LUSINI range, are supplied without a stand. This flexibility allows you to choose a stand that perfectly suits your individual needs.
  2. Sunshades with an X-shaped stand: These are specially designed for use with concrete blocks, which you can find at any DIY store. These blocks are usually 50x50 cm in size and weigh around 30 kg - you will usually need four of them. Examples of this type of parasol in our range are the Breva or Esparto models.

In our LUSINI range, we offer a variety of basic models of parasols that are tailored to the most diverse needs and are made of high-quality materials that have been specially developed for professional use.

How do I find the right parasol? A selection from LUSINI

It's no secret that some parasols are better suited to windy conditions than others. A key advantage of LUSINI parasols is that, although they are designed for professional use, they are still offered at prices that are often cheaper than those of products for private use.

A parasol designed for public spaces is very different from the models you would find in a conventional DIY store. Our parasols undergo rigorous laboratory tests to ensure their stability, effectiveness in sun protection and their ability to block UV radiation - to name just a few examples.

Choosing a LUSINI parasol means choosing quality and safety - two aspects that are of the utmost importance in this sector.

Let's discover together which of our parasols are particularly suitable for windy conditions.

How do you secure a parasol effectively in windy conditions?

  1. Models with integrated parasol stand: These parasols require concrete blocks for stabilization. These stones are available in almost every DIY store and are simply placed on the integrated stand.
  2. Models that require a special parasol stand: Some parasols require a separate, specially made stand.
