The new calibration law for glasses and decanters

From 01.01.2015 there is a new EU Directive 2004/22/EC and therefore in the future all dispensing vessels (glasses/decanters) will be legally considered as measuring instruments and must bear a CE marking.

What does that mean for you as a restaurateur?

You as a restaurateur do not yet have any additional obligations from the new EU directive. LUSINI as a manufacturer is obliged to convert all calibrated glasses and decanters in the range promptly and to affix the required CE marking. The declaration of conformity confirms that the glasses comply with the legal requirements.

What does the CE marking mean and where must it be affixed?

The placement of the CE marking is not mandatory. It can be placed directly under the filling line, as well as on the bottom of a glass.

Are there any regulations other than CE marking?

Yes, from 01.01.2015 the calibration marks 0.15 l and 0.33 l are permitted. In addition, from now on, three calibration marks can also be applied to the glass or decanter.
